The Urban Appalachian Story Gathering Project
About the Project
The Urban Appalachian Story Gathering Project, launched in 2021 by the Urban Appalachian Community Coalition, began with 45 video interviews that document the stories and experiences of urban Appalachians.
Alongside individual interviews, the archive features seven "Video Quilts"—composite videos that weave together interview segments on related topics, offering a rich, narrative experience without transcripts.
In 2024, we partnered with the local non-profit A Picture’s Worth to expand the project in exciting new directions. Through a mix of images, objects, and audio, we’ve invited Greater Cincinnati residents to share their personal reflections on what family means to them.
