Patty Cody

Born in Hazard, Kentucky, Patty Cody has lived in an upper-middle-class suburb and spent twelve years roughing it in a house in the woods at Bear Branch, Indiana. She now lives in Aurora, Indiana, a town that looks and feels remarkably like the place where she grew up. She visits her parents in Hazard often.

"There's a certain feeling when we go back. There's nothing that's nicer than sitting on my mom's couch. When we go there it's social. There's family coming in and out and calling on the phone every second. There's cooking and kids and talk and people and all that, all the time. And certainly that's what I always say is home. Of course, it isn't. Nor would I like to move back there to my mother's house, and she wouldn't like that either."
